Less than a month after Hurricane Florence pummeled North Carolina, affecting military operations from Camp Lejeune to Fort Bragg and more, Hurricane Michael takes aim at a different part of the Southeast.

On the Florida coast, bases across the Florida panhandle are bracing for the storm’s impacts.

Tyndall Air Force Base has evacuated both personnel and aircraft – sending F-16s, F-22s and T-38s to Wright Patterson AFB. While Michael appears to be headed straight for Tyndall, other bases in the region are preparing for storm impacts – including Eglin AFB, Hurlburt Field, and Naval Air Station Pensacola.

Once the storm makes landfall, it heads into Georgia and the Carolinas. In Georgia, Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany is in the path of the storm and will close during Hurricane Michael. Other Georgia bases such as Fort Benning and Moody AFB could also be affected.
