Saroja Schwager is a Policy Fellow at the Center for Climate and Security. She is currently completing her M.A. in Climate and Society at Columbia University after receiving her B.A. from New York University, where she studied foreign relations and environmental policy. Her current research interests include the climate and security nexus and how policy, governance and socio-economic factors interact with and even exacerbate climate risks, particularly in the Middle East and the Horn of Africa. Saroja is a member of the research team at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre and the International Research Institute for Climate and Society.
