Welcome to “Read, Watch, Listen” from the Center for Climate and Security (CCS), a monthly round-up highlighting some of the articles, interviews, and podcasts featuring the CCS network of experts.
In April, CCS experts were called upon to discuss a multiplicity of topics, including wargames in the Arctic, water diplomacy in the Middle East, the impact of climate change on the U.S. National Guard, and the conflict in Ukraine.
Books
- CCS Senior Research Fellow Josh Busby published States and Nature: The Effects of Climate Change on Security which examines how state capacity, political exclusion, and international assistance shape climate security outcomes. This argument is then demonstrated through application to case studies from sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.

- Sherri Goodman pointed out the importance of climate and water security cooperation in light of the new water-for-energy deal between Jordan and Israel. (Friedrich Naumann Foundation)
