Ms. Sullivan is the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Environment).  In that role she was responsible for DoD’s policies and programs related to compliance with environmental laws; management of natural and cultural resources; cleanup of contaminated sites; fire and emergency services; green/sustainable buildings; installation emergency management; international environmental policy; and planning to address emerging chemicals of concern.  Additionally, Ms. Sullivan was also responsible for the DoD Native American program, oversaw the Armed Forces Pest Management Board, the DoD Explosives Safety Board, and the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program/ Environmental Security Technology Certification Program.

Ms. Sullivan represented the Secretary of Defense on the President’s Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, was the Department of Defense Federal Preservation Officer, and served as the DoD Chief Environmental Review and Permitting Officer.

For 29 years, Ms. Sullivan has served in various leadership positions as a member of the Office of the Secretary of Defense environmental staff.  Ms. Sullivan joined the Senior Executive Service in 2008.  She retired in 2020 after over 40 years of service in the Department of Defense.
