Hear, Hear! Climate and Water Security on the Hill This Week

On Thursday, January 16, the United States Senate and House of Representatives will be holding hearings on climate change and water security.  The U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works will hold a hearing entitled, “Review of the President’s Climate Action Plan” at 9:15 AM EST.  When you are through watching that hearing you can mosey on over to the House of Representatives where the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats will hold a hearing on “Water as a Geopolitical Threat” starting at 10 AM EST. Chairman Rohrabacher on the hearing: “The Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats will explore how fresh water and its availability is driving transnational concerns and potential interstate conflict. The scarcity and access of this vital resource affects every country. I’m particularly concerned about China’s nefarious role in using water as a cross-border weapon, intimidating its neighbors.”
